Facebook Wants People To 'Try Apps Without Fear'

Facebook wants to take the fear out of app testing.

That’s what Mark Zuckerberg, the company’s founder and CEO, said during his keynote at Wednesday’s F8 Developer Conference in San Francisco.

“How many times have you installed an app, wanted to try it out, but weren’t yet ready to sign in with your real identity?” Zuckerberg asked.

Facebook is aiming to fix that fear by rolling out an “anonymous login” feature that allows users to test apps without first sharing private information. Zuckerberg believes the new anonymous login is an example “of putting people first” -- one of the main points of his keynote.

Making the new login feature even more enticing for cautious users is the fact Facebook lets users sync app experience across devices even if they are using the app anonymously.
