Freeview Connect To Offer Catch-Up Television

The BBC, ITV and Channel 4 are to spend more than GBP100m on a new Internet-connected version of Freeview that will offer catch up services through iPlayer, ITV Player and 4OD. Most of their support for YouView, which is sold alongside BT and TalkTalk Internet subscriptions, has been dropped. Catch-up services are already available on pay-tv and through the latest Internet-connected televisions and games consoles, but Freeview Connect will cater to those without subscriptions and the latest equipment.
