Video will account for 79% of all IP traffic by 2018 -- rising sharply from from 65% in 2013 -- according to new estimates from Cisco. The networking giant predicts that consumers will own an average of 2.7 connected gadgets by 2018 -- up from 1.7 in 2013. By 2018, “for the first time in the history of the Internet, the majority of traffic will not come from PCs,” ZDNet notes. “Mobile and portable devices, which accounted for 33% of IP traffic in 2013, will take a 57% share of non-PC traffic by 2018.”
