Cyber criminals have hacked into the European Central Bank's website and stolen one of the bank's online databases which includes customer email addresses and phone numbers. According
to the financial institution, no sensitive financial data was compromised in the theft. Instead, the bank said the criminals focused their attack on the bank's email distribution lists.
The exposure surfaced after the thieves sent an email to ECB trying to extort money in exchange for returning the stolen data back to the bank.
