Some lackluster original episodes from a number of English-language networks -- as well as a number of lower-rated reruns -- gave Univision an opening on Thursday night for a strong result.
The big Spanish-language broadcast network tied CBS for the best results among 18-49 viewers -- with a Nielsen 1.4 rating/5 share -- as well as giving Univision the outright win among young viewers 18-34, with a 1.3/6.
New ABC reality show “The Quest” contributed to the weak results for the English-language networks. In the 8 p.m. Thursday time slot, it posted just 2.8 million Nielsen viewers and a modest 0.7 rating/3 share among 18-49 viewers.
Rerun programming that opposed “Quest” in the time period did better -- CBS’ “Big Bang Theory” at 7.2 million viewers and 1.6/7 among 18-49 viewers with NBC’s “Hollywood Game Night” pulling in 3.86 million viewers and a 1.0/4 among 18-49 viewers for its repeat. Also at 8 p.m., Univision’s “Mi Corazon es Tuyo” earned a 1.3 rating/4 share among 18-49 viewers.

Other English-language original 9 p.m. show episodes were down from those numbers -- ABC’s “Rookie Blue” at a 1.0/3 and 4.8 million viewers; NBC’s “Welcome to Sweden” with a 0.7/2 and 2.5 million viewers; and Fox’s “Gang Related” at a 0.7/2 and 2.3 million viewers.
Later in the night, new content from NBC at 9:30 p.m. -- “Working The Engels” earned a 0.6/2 and 1.9 million viewers at 9:30 p.m. -- about the same as its last original outing.
It was Univision winning the 10 p.m. time period -- with a 1.3/4 for “Que Pobres Tan Ricos.” NBC’s“Last Comic Standing” was next -- a 1.1/4 and 3.4 million viewers. ABC’s “NY Med” had a 1.0/3 and 5.6 million viewers.
