Kelly Joins Millennial Media As President, Managed Media

Millennial Media, a mobile ad firm, this week announced it has appointed Jason Kelly as president of its managed media business. Kelly is expected to join the company in mid-October and will work from its New York office, per a release.

Kelly was most recently CEO of Sociomantic, an ad retargeting firm that was recently acquired by Tesco’s Dunhumby. Prior to Sociomantic, Kelly was at Google/Admeld, Time Inc., RAPT (of Microsoft) and Virgin America, per a release.

”As we move to a mix of traditional media and programmatic buying, it is vital to have someone run that business who has tremendous expertise in both areas,” stated Millennial’s CEO Michael Barrett, to whom Kelly will report.

Millennial Media recently announced its plans to acquire Nexage, a mobile ad exchange and supply-side platform (SSP).

I don't think MM is going under, but they have their work cut out for them if they want to turn things around. A class action law suit, struggling stock value, losing developers and market share to Airpush, Tapjoy and other superior ad networks... it all just doesn't add up to good things for MM. They need to reinvent themselves quickly!
