DigitasLBi Names Jason Kodish As First Chief Data Scientist

Proprietary, data-driven products need their own leader -- which is why DigitasLBi is promoting Jason Kodish to the newly created role of global chief data scientist.

Kodish will lead the global 350-person Strategy & Analytics capability with a remit to deliver effective data-driven strategies for clients. He will also be responsible for driving the agency’s global data initiatives, such as tool development, partnership deals, data management, quality control, and more. Included in that will be the growth of existing proprietary DigitasLBi analytics tools, including LookOut (competitive monitoring), PeoplePulse (audience data), and Blackbook (influencer targeting).

"We will be integrating our North American Strategy and Analytics team with our Global team to streamline the offering and facilitate best practices and learnings globally through one team and one structure," says Kodish.

Kodish will also work throughout the vendor/partner landscape to jointly develop an agenda of innovation for the agency, its clients, and “for the industry,” the shop said.

The new role "is not being driven by 'why now,' but because of 'what’s next'," says Kodish. "For us, for our clients, and for the industry, we need to continue to stay ahead of the curve, to drive innovation, and to elevate the utility of data. DigitasLBi has always been on the forefront of the integration of data into our daily work -- planning, creative, strategy, media, etc. Now, technology has facilitated explosive growth of the opportunities -- globally -- to incorporate data, insights, and intelligence more than ever before."

Most recently Kodish served as the agency’s Regional SVP, North America Strategy & Analytics. With more than 17 years of industry experience, Kodish has worked across a wide range of client industries including financial services, automotive, consumer packaged goods, travel, leisure, and retail. Prior to joining DigitasLBi, he was director of strategy and marketing for GSP Marketing. He also held marketing and consulting positions at Quris, Buzz Divine, and Kestenbaum & Company.

“There couldn’t be a better fit for this new role,” says Tony Weisman, CEO, DigitasLBi North America. “For years, Jason has been on the cutting-edge of marketing analytics, turning data-driven insights into winning strategies for clients across North America. We’re incredibly excited to have him expand that leadership on a global level.”

DigitasLBi is owned by Publicis Groupe. The global marketing and technology agency is comprised of 6,000 digital and technology experts across 40 offices in 25 countries worldwide.
