Seattle-headquartered design shop Hornall Anderson, part of Omnicom, is setting up shop in the Big Apple in order to better serve clients, such as Madison Square Garden, General Electric, Empire State Building and Ocean Spray.
Hornall Anderson New York will work with Hornall Anderson’s Seattle and UK offices, as well as have the capability to scale to global branding projects on its own.
"We expect it to be one more avenue for us to service clients better, bring in top-notch talent, and more effectively partner to reveal new and innovative ideas for our client’s brands and business," says Angela Gamba, PR director for Hornall Anderson.
The new office will be led by Kathy Soranno, who has been appointed executive creative director and managing director, New York. With more than two decades of senior-level branding and design expertise, Soranno was most recently executive creative director for Wallace Church in New York, and prior to that, creative director for LPK in Cincinnati. Throughout her career, she has worked with brands including Target, Olay, General Mills, Kohl’s, Best Buy and 3M.

“Kathy’s drive for success, her passion to do and be better, her spirit and style are true to all that’s made Hornall Anderson great, and key to fueling our achievements moving forward,” said John Anicker, Hornall Anderson’s president and CEO. “She will lead a studio that is intimate in its scale, but global in its impact, and will reveal new ideas and forge new answers for our clients in New York and beyond.”
This new location will initially utilize a group of NY-based freelancers and receive additional support from the agency's existing teams in Seattle and the UK. Executives are also actively looking to fill several open full-time positions.
Commenting on the new location, Soranno said, “We viewed a lot of fine spaces that could have worked, but in addition to the functional needs of a creative studio, there’s also the creative 'it' factor. Is there space to work together? Alone? Escape altogether? Proximity to inspirational places? A more than decent cup of coffee around the corner? It needed to feel like Hornall Anderson." They found the ideal location between SoHo and the West Village at 200 Varick St, 11th Floor.
Founded in Washington State in 1982, Hornall Anderson uses design to create branded experiences from print, to digital and packaged goods, environments, and virtual worlds. The agency later added offices in the United Kingdom to better service international clients that include PepsiCo, Unilever, Starbucks and Aryzta.
