'Voice,' 'Charlie Brown' Pull Ahead Of Tuesday Competition

Broadcast TV networks — now in the throes of a bumpy and slower post-November sweeps period — witnessed only two shows on Tuesday night which crested the two rating mark for 18-49 viewers.

NBC’s still-strong singing contest show “The Voice,” which airs from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., reached a Nielsen 2.6 live-plus-same day program rating — up three-tenths of a rating point from the week before. (It was still down around 20% from a similar show of a year ago.)

Running against “The Voice” at 8:30 p.m. was the annual showing of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” on ABC, which scored a 2.1 rating. ABC also did well earlier at 8 p.m. with a 1.9 rating as a result of “Toy Story That Time Forgot” and a 1.8 number at 9 p.m. from “Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

All this helped place NBC and ABC ahead of all others — with a 1.8 and a 1.7, respectively.

Fox averaged a 1.4 with new episodes of “MasterChef Junior,” “New Girl” and “Mindy Project,” while CBS, which was running all reruns, earned a 1.3 rating and CW, a sister network of CBS, also posted a 1.3 number, with “The Flash” taking a 1.6 and “Supernatural” earning a 1.0.

Now through 10 weeks of the new season — Nov. 30 — NBC maintained its lead among 18-49 viewers, earning a Nielsen 3.0 rating in looking at live program-plus-seven days worth of time-shifting. CBS earned a 2.6, followed by ABC at a 2.5; Fox with a 2.1; and the CW at a 0.9.

Each adults 18-49 rating point equals 1.2698 million adults 18-49.
