'Peter Pan' Flies High For NBC

NBC’s highly touted “Peter Pan Live!” delivered about half the ratings results of its first holiday season live musical event a year ago.

Nielsen preliminary live program-plus-same day ratings among 18-49 viewers were at a 2.3 rating/7 share for the special three-hour musical event that ran from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. It averaged 9.1 million total viewers.

Last year’s “Sound of Music Live!” earned a 4.6 rating/13 share among 18-49 viewers, and 18.4 million overall viewers — a highly surprising result for NBC executives and TV analysts. “Sound of Music” rose to a 5.6 rating among 18-49 viewers and 21.8 million when looking at live program plus seven days of time-shifted data.

This year’s holiday show wasn’t even the highest-rated show on Thursday night. Two CBS comedies — “Mom” at 8:30 p.m. (a 2.5/8) and “Two and a Half Men” at 9 p.m. (a 2.5/7) — posted higher results.
