Check Out The Duck-Taped Replays During Tonight's College Championship Game

Duck TapeIt was too perfect an opportunity to resist.

Duck Tape didn't intend to align with the College Football Bowl Championship game, but once the Oregon Ducks were set for the final match versus the Ohio State Buckeyes, the ShurTech-owned brand knew it needed to capitalize on this unique name coincidence.

Yet it needed more than just the same name to elevate its awareness above other brands involved in this game.

Thus, fans will be able to see key moments of the game recreated via Duck Tape.

Developed by agency Brunner, Pittsburgh, Duck Tape’s social media team is tweeting out “instant replay” videos of all the game’s biggest plays on the social media platform Vine as reenacted in Duck Tape.

Here’s how it works. The agency's video studio features a 4' x 8' football field constructed of five rolls of green Duck Tape, and one roll of white. Football, sky, penalty flags and blimp consume 7 rolls of brown, blue, yellow and, of course, classic silver Duck Tape brand duct tape.

Thanks to its line-up of licensed NCAA colleges and universities, Duck Tape also has tape for the opposing team, Ohio State. Hence, these players will be depicted in appropriately branded rolls of College Logo Duck Tape.

Seven-second “instant replays” will be created in stop-motion animation within 10 minutes of the live event, though executives have "pre-shot" some easily anticipated “replays."

As the instant replay Vines are created, they will be distributed via #CFBChampionship, #UOvsOSU, @TheDuckBrand, any of multiple hashtags and handles for ESPN, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Oregon Ducks and their individual players.

This campaign is supported via promoted tweets and Facebook Newsfeed Ads.

Brunner has represented ShurTech Brands on a series of digital marketing assignments on a project basis since November.
