NBC Tops Rivals With Slight Uptick In Ratings

With the Super Bowl ratings now in its rating account for the year, NBC has moved ahead of CBS by about half a ratings point in its season-to-date tally.

Through Sunday, February 1, 2015 -- 19 weeks of the season -- NBC sits in first place among adults 18-49 with a Nielsen 2.9 live program-plus seven-day time-shifting ratings average. CBS was at a 2.4.

Just the week before, NBC was only ahead of CBS by one-tenth of a rating point -- a 2.6 18-49 rating to 2.5 rating. NBC earned a massive 39.1 rating/79 share among 18-49 viewers in Nielsen’s live-plus-same day airing, as well as an overall 114.4 million average viewers for the Super Bowl telecast.

In the most recent week, ABC and Fox tied for third with a 2.1 -- the same as the week before. The CW came in fifth at 0.8 adults 18-49 rating average, also the same for both weeks.

The total viewer average still goes to CBS -- now at 11.6 million viewers. NBC is second with 9.8 million (it scored 9.0 in the previous week), followed by ABC at 7.7 million, Fox with 6.1 million; and CW at 2.1 million.
