FTC's Brill Bashes White House Privacy Proposal

Federal Trade Commissioner Julie Brill told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that she's disappointed in the Obama administratino's draft proposal for a privacy “bill of rights.” Brill pointed to flaws including that the bill doesn't consider whether companies can collect data for one purpose, but use it for a different one, without first obtaining consumers' consent. She also said she would back a bill curbing data brokers, which was reintroduced in the Senate last week by four Democrats.
