Honda Sets New HR-V Below $20,000

Honda is going with a straightforward, surefire sales formula for its new HR-V subcompact SUV: low price, high gas mileage, and big space inside. Oh, and Honda's reputation for reliability. On the price side of the equation, the vehicle starts at $19,995 including destination charges when it rolls into showrooms mid-May. That price makes it affordable for young urbanites with the proverbial "stuff" to carry around. The fuel economy is 28 miles per gallon in the city, 35 mpg on the highway. The company expects to sell 70,000 HR-Vs a year.
