Men's Health, Chef'd Partner For Branded Meal Kits

Health and fitness publisher Rodale Inc. is joining forces with Chef’d, which delivers gourmet meal kits, for branded a la carte meals and meal plans, the companies announced Tuesday. The partnership is kicking off with branded meal kits for Men’s Health, and will later extend to other Rodale brands, including Women’s Health, Prevention, Runner’s World, Bicycling and Organic Life.

The Men’s Health meal kits were created by Chef’d under the direction of Men’s Health food and nutrition editor Paul Kita. They include healthy takes on meals, like “General Tso’s Chicken,” “Grilled Fish Tacos,” and “Steak Au Poivre,” among others. Customers can order the meals by visiting the Men’s Health Web site, with delivery available within one to two days from Tuesday to Saturday.

Each meal box makes enough for two to four people and includes a step-by-step recipe with visuals, as well as calorie information and suggestions for beer and wine pairings.

The debut of the branded Men’s Health meal kits comes amid National Men’s Health week, with meal kits for other Rodale brands to follow in July. This is the first partnership between Chef’d and a media company.

This isn’t Rodale’s first foray into branded home deliveries.

For the last few years, Women’s Health has partnered with Birchbox, which produces and distributes boxes of sample products, to create a special edition Women’s Health wellness box with products for health and fitness. In 2013 the health and beauty samples included products from Kiehl’s, Cargo, Ojon, Simple and Supergoop. Women’s Health also gave a year’s subscription to everyone who receives the box.
