TVGla Builds Up Nakatomi Plaza For 20th Century Fox

In 20th Century Fox's "Die Hard," Bruce Willis' John McClane famously defended Los Angeles from terrorists inside the 35-story Nakatomi Plaza. At the time, the building was only one year old, so Die Hard elevated the sky-scraper to iconic status for tourists and residents. Now, Nakatomi Plaza is taking another star turn for the film franchise in order to promote the new DVD package set, Nakatomi Plaza: Die Hard Collection.

Developed by agency TVGla, the building is the centerpiece for an ad that opens with close shots of the building as the sounds of a helicopter whirl above. The camera then moves back to reveal that the well-known building – which is now the official home of 20th Century Fox – is model size, just a bit bigger than the coffee cup it sits beside. It ends by showing the DVD set.

There was just one key challenge. "We had a very short time frame to come up with a creative idea and quickly and efficiently create shareable content that captured the tone of the franchise. We love doing work like this as it plays to our strength in understanding how to leverage great iconic entertainment brands with a devoted fan base," says Brian Pettigrew, President of TVGla.

The clip appears across social media, including the "Die Hard" Facebook page which has more than 2.67 million "likes." It is also being promoted during Comic-Con, where 20th Century Fox is displaying a model of the building that serves as the franchise's DVD package. This DVD set, which is available for pre-order at Comic Con, will be released on October 13, with blu-ray and Digital HD copies of all five films, from the 1988 Die Hard to 2013’s "A Good Day to Die Hard," in addition to a full suite of special features, some of which are new to this set.
