Postano Integrates Periscope for Livestreaming Events

Postano, a platform that curates and publicizes social media content from participants and fans throughout public events including professional sports games, has integrated Periscope to enable livestreaming from users’ mobile devices, the company announced this week. The new capability means Postano can bring Periscope video from fans to jumbotron screens and other high-visibility displays in sports arenas and elsewhere.

The new offering from Postano, owned by TigerLogic, can also help enhance branding and advertiser messages. Brands can choose specific Periscope accounts or hashtags to feature and broadcast on screens at public events. The presentation can be customized to align with the branding of an event or company, including sponsors: for example Gatorade could sponsor and incorporate its brand into the live feed of the famous post-victory Super Bowl sports drink shower.

Postano debuted the new integration by displaying livestreams on the stadium screen at Seattle’s Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners.

In addition to fan content the Postano-Periscope integration also allows event organizers to amplify their content and participant engagement by, for example, displaying backstage interviews and behind-the-scenes tours.

Postano has already brought content from a number of other social networks to public displays, including Facebook, Twitter (which owns Periscope), Vine, Instagram, Tumblr, Vimeo, Flickr, Foursquare, and YouTube, among others. Back in December the Cleveland Cavaliers tapped Postano’s service to encourage social media activity around their games. As part of the deal, TigerLogic installed four permanent corner board social media displays using Postano.

The team noted that data from the first ten games of the season showed an average of 20,000 posts per game.
