IPG's FutureBrand Buys Digital Agency Hugo & Cat

Interpublic’s global branding shop FutureBrand has acquired UK-based digital agency Hugo & Cat. The terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 2004, Hugo & Cat bills itself as a full-service digital and interactive agency. Capabilities include data and insight, strategic planning, experience design, content creation, creative technology and mobile & Web development.

H&C has a staff of 80 and is headquartered in London, with a U.S. presence in San Francisco. Clients include Volkswagen, Sony and Tourism Ireland.

Patrick Smith, CEO of FutureBrand Worldwide, said of the acquisition: “Hugo & Cat extends our capability to create the complete brand ecosystems now demanded by clients and follows our successful integration of retail experience design specialist UXUS in 2013." He called it "a strong cultural fit across multiple markets between our two companies.”

On the flip side, the acquisition enables H&C to enter “new markets and solve even bigger challenges for clients looking for competitive advantage in a digital world,” said H&C co-founder Johannes Smith.
