The hashtag was started by platform engineer Isis Wenger who says she was told she did not look like an engineer after appearing in an ad that was part of her companyOneLogin's recruiting campaign. Wenger wrote about the experience in a Medium post: "You May Have Seen My Face on BART." Now a San Francisco Web developer is crowdfunding an #ILookLikeAnEngineer advertising campaign.
