Virgin America Celebrates Anniversary With Promos

Virgin America is marking its eighth anniversary with a week of promotional activities.

The company, which is the “official airline of the San Francisco Giants” celebrates "Virgin America Night" Aug. 15 when the team hosts the Washington Nationals.

Special Olympics athlete (and Northern California native), Jose Ayala, who recently took home a silver medal in the Javelin at the Special Olympics World Games, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch to commemorate the airline's partnership with Special Olympics this summer.

The first 40,000 attendees at the game will receive a two-for-one Virgin America flight voucher.

“Our partnership has continued to grow over the years and now includes several signature areas in our ballpark, three World Championship trophy flights, and this annual Virgin America Night celebration,” says Giants President and CEO Larry Baer in a release.

San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee honored the airline by naming Aug. 8 "Virgin America Day" in the city.

Virgin America honored its loyal flyers on Aug. 6 with a “We’re Turning Eight, Let the Party Fly” network-wide fare sale with fares from $38.
