Enhanced TV Telecast Attracts 122,000 Viewers

ABC & Walt Disney Internet Group's Enhanced TV telecast of Wednesday night's FedEx Orange Bowl, which enabled football fans to access unique Internet content synchronized to the second with ABC's telecast via their personal computers, attracted 122,000 unique viewers who logged on for an average of 40 minutes each. The Enhanced TV telecast of the game, presented by Ford, was accessible via ESPN.com. Enhanced TV viewers were given the opportunity to register for a drawing for a 2001 Ford Escape.

Approximately 2,500 pre-produced graphics were used during the Enhanced TV telecast. The application was promoted once each quarter within the traditional ABC telecast, with Enhanced TV usage increasing as much as 39% immediately following the promos. More than 3.4 million unique viewers logged on to Enhanced TV football programming this season, including ABC and ESPN's primetime NFL games, two NFL wildcard playoff games on ABC, and the FedEx Orange Bowl.
