Horizon Expands 'Invention,' Seeks To Institutionalize It

Horizon Media is expanding its fledgling “invention” practice, naming legal and investment veterans Devin McGrath and Jeremy Shure “directors of invention.”

McGrath and Shure, who report to Horizon Chief Invention Officer Taylor Valentine, will help “enhance, institutionalize and place invention at the heart of the agency,” according to a Horizon statement, which goes on to assert the agency has “heavily invested” in the practice in order to ensure it is “ready for big changes.”

Among other things, McGrath and Shure will be responsible for leading Horizon’s “Incubator,” an initiative designed to mentor promising startups.

Shure joins from Emerging Companies Practice Group at law firm Akerman LLP, where he founded the tech startup practice area.

McGrath, who has been with Horizon since October 2014, previously was a private banker at Credit Suisse specializing in private wealth management.
