Vine Makes App More User-Friendly

From Vine to Snapchat to Instagram, social-sharing services are dying to get users to spend more time on their apps.

To that end, Vine is now encouraging users to swipe left when they want to see more of a particular topic. If their interest is piqued by a Vine on some channel or in their feed, they can simply swipe left to see more of the same.

The change -- which presently only applies to iOS users -- comes a day after Snapchat began rolling out a Story Explorer option for users to drill deeper into various topics. Starting in select markets, if Snapchat users come across a story of interest, they can now swipe upwards to see related content.

Similarly, Twitter recently rolled out Moments -- a service that surfaces timely content in clearly defined blocks -- while Instagram just began testing aggregated content streams.

Since October, Vine has actually allowed users to view similar vines, but they previously had to click into the “Similar Vines” tab under a post.

Trying to keep users engaged, Vine also recently began inviting them to remix any audio they can find within the network.

This summer, Vine added several music-editing tools, including a Snap to Beat feature that helps users create perfect loops -- so looping songs will sound continuous and uninterrupted.

It also rolled out a new Featured Tracks section as a new way for users to discover music. With the feature, users can also find out exactly what they’re listening to as they watch Vines. When they see the music note on a Vine, they only need to tap it to reveal details about the track.

The Twitter-owned also service recently became easier to navigate thanks to a new list of suggested Viners, along with an HD broadcasting and viewing option.
