Wix Hires DreamWorks To Produce Super Bowl Spot, Other Creative Work

Wix is planning to air a Super Bowl spot for the second year in a row. But instead of working with a traditional ad agency, the Web services provider has hired DreamWorks Animation to help create the ad.

Wix’s internal team will work with DreamWorks Animation to develop and produce the Super Bowl spot and other creative work.

In addition to the Super Bowl commercial, the company will be launching a cross-platform campaign with made-for-Web content and social media activations.

The animation house is apparently prospecting for advertising work. According to Wix, DreamWorks Animation reached out to the firm shortly after the last Super Bowl.

“Last year, we were Super Bowl newcomers, and in addition to the 114.5 million people who watched our ad during the game, over 300 million people worldwide engaged with our campaign online,” said Wix CMO Omer Shai. “Deciding to come back was a no brainer, but for the creative direction, we wanted to take a fresh approach.”

Last year, the creative for Wix’s ad was done by Committee LA, working in collaboration with creative agency veterans Jeff Huggins and Andrea Janetos. The spot featured ex-NFLers using Wix software to create homepages for new businesses. Earlier, Wix worked with ad shop Silver + Partners.
