Sling TV Rolls Out New Personalization Features, ESPN3

LAS VEGAS -- After nearly a year of operation, Sling TV, Dish Network’s over-the-top digital TV service, is getting an upgrade -- with more personalization features as well as the integration of ESPN3 directly into its lineup.

Among those new features is a My TV tab, which will display in a on-screen "ribbon." It will include a user’s "favorites," which is based on past viewing; "recommendations," popular content among Sling TV users; and "continue watching," for shows that have been paused during previous viewing sessions.

In addition, there will be a new "On Now" on-screen "ribbon" of what is currently on live TV in specific categories -- sports, action and adventure -- which will change based users viewing patterns.

SlingTV announced the changes at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Tuesday. The new features are intended to make it easier for customers to pick and choose content.

Sling TV customers will also now have direct access to ESPN3, the TV sports network's broadband-only channel. In the past customers needs to access ESPNs3 through the WatchESPN app.

Basic Sling TV service costs $20 per month, with a number of add-on channel packages costing an additional $5 per month.

Company officials say throughout the year it will expand the number of devices that can access Sling TV.
