MediaMath Exec Heads To Google In Dual AdX Buy Side/Policy Role

Sam Cox, former VP Global Partnerships at MediaMath, has moved to Google as group product manager for AdX Buy Side and Policy, Real-Time Daily has learned. A Google spokeswoman confirmed Cox’s new gig, which began May 2.

The move comes as Google last month announced it’s testing exchange bidding in Dynamic Allocation with several partners.  Cox, who worked on the buy side at MediaMath and has experience buying on Google AdX, is an interesting hire as he understands the needs of AdX customers. Cox’s policy role will address standards and what’s acceptable on AdX. Cox will report to Jonathan Bellack, director, product management, and manage the team at Google that builds products for third-party buyers on AdX. He will  manage things like marketplace APIs and assets that buyers use to engage with AdX.

Google’s announcement last month represents a major shift in strategy and is an admission that customers use multiple exchanges. Cox is expected to bring an outside perspective to Google and help envision what’s next for AdX.
