Apple's App Store Hits Search Glitch

The Apple iOS store and Mac App stores are failing to show important search results for applications such as Periscope, Spotify, Tidal, Waze, and Star Wars titles, as well as Google apps, according to reports.

Users on Reddit and Twitter, corroborated by multiple tips that
MacRumors received, are affected by an ongoing App Store issue preventing popular iOS apps from showing up in search results unless already installed in the phone.

Others report incorrect search results, such as iPhone apps being shown in iPad-only searches.

The support staff appears aware of the trouble and working on a solution, because the system status page acknowledges the problem with the App Store.

While the search engine is experiencing some difficulty, the rest of the Apple App Store appears to be working, and the glitch isn't widespread enough for MediaPost to recreate the problem.

Could the search glitch mean more trouble for Apple? Earlier this Week, Apple CEO Tim Cook denied that the tech giant was "losing its edge," after its share price fell daily for more than a week.

In a research note published late April, Macquarie Securities Analyst Ben Schachter wrote that Apple "needs new innovation either in its current categories or in entirely new products (car?)" to drive consumer and investor excitement.
