At its NewFronts presentation scheduled for Friday afternoon in New York, Mashable is due to announce that it will produce 35 hours of content monthly for Facebook Live, and that otherwise its slate of content initiatives include (from a press release):
“El Pulso Live”: Mashable and Telemundo are expanding their El Pulso partnership through Facebook Live with a new weekly video show, “El Pulso Live” to be hosted every Wednesday by social influencer Christian Acosta. The series will review the latest technology social chatter among Latinos and highlight the most viral trends.
Garrett Reisman and David Stern Collaboration: Mashable has teamed up with astronaut Garrett Reisman and producer David Stern (Mozart in the Jungle) to create new original video series that bring the awe of outer space to earth in whimsical ways.
Scamalot: Comedian James Veitch, whose TED Talk now has nearly 10 million views, will be releasing the second season of Scamalot across a variety of Mashable platforms later this summer.
DARE Short Film Sequel: About 15 years ago, two kids from film school made a touching, coming-of-age short film about a gay teen. Some 12 years later, they decided to drop that film onto YouTube -- unannounced. 36 months and 9 million global views later, Mashable Studios is partnering with the original filmmakers to make the sequel following the same characters -- aged in real life, and facing adulthood in the age of Tinder.
Bravo Short-Form Web Series: Mashable will be debuting four short-form digital series later this year with Bravo TV.
By arrangement, Mashable and Turner Broadcasting will share platforms for branded and traditional content, part of the fruits from a $15 million Series C funding round led by Turner earlier this year.
Mashable, the last participant in the two-week long NewFronts presentations, also is expected to talk about its proprietary Velocity Technology Suite that uses predictive analytics to create editorial and branded content that is likely to attract specific audience. Three parts of the system--a dashboard that predicts virality and mine trends; a CMS system that create stories and predict what other content it will compete with; and Velocity Kg that optimizes in real-time to maximize to increase the likely share of audience.
