'Shape' Launches First 'Shape' Body Shop

Shape magazine has opened up registration for its first “Shape Body Shop” workout pop-up event, inspired by the magazine’s new “Body Shop” section, which premiered in the March 2016 issue.

The first “Shape Body Shop” event will be held at Hudson Loft in Los Angeles on June 18, followed by a second event in New York on October 22.

Event sponsors include Casio, Dial, Geico, L’Oreal Advanced Haircare, Michelob Ultra, Neutrogena, Purely Inspired, Secret Deodorant, Stacey’s, ThinkThin and Vitafusion.

“This is the perfect opportunity for Shape to connect our advertisers with our most engaged consumers in a custom studio space dedicated to fitness and wellness,” stated publisher Tim O’Connor.

The one-day event is open to the public and offers 26 pop-up workout classes, taught by fitness stars like Jen Widerstrom of “The Biggest Loser,” Tone It Up founders Karena Dawn and Katrina Scott, Jenny Gaither, Brett Hoebel and Lacey Stone.

Julianne Hough, who recently launched an activewear collection with MPG, will also lead a workout class with her trainer Astrid Swan, and fitness and nutrition guru Harley Pasternak will host a nutrition class.

The fitness classes include Flywheel, Pop Sculpt by Pop Physique and Cardio Capoeira.

In addition to the workout classes, the event space at Hudson Loft will feature an athleisure pop-up shop, Eat Right Café, branded locker rooms and photo booths.

“The Shape Body Shop events offer a unique opportunity to experience the hottest fitness classes on the market in one day, under one roof,” stated Shape editor-in-chief Elizabeth Goodman Artis. She says it serves as a  " a one-stop shop bringing together all of the brand’s core topics,” such as healthy food, fashion and beauty.

Each class costs $10, with all ticket sales proceeds going to Movemeant Foundation, a nonprofit encouraging body confidence in young women. Shape is also encouraging supporters who can’t attend the event or would like to donate more to create or join fundraising teams to raise money for Movemeant Foundation on their own.

Shape will also be supporting local “Shape Body Shop” events at studios and gyms across the country.
