Zappos Partners With Olympian, Brooks Running

Zappos.com is partnering with runner Nick Symmonds and Brooks Running to bring awareness to sponsored athlete fairness.

A percentage of sales from select Brooks products on Zappos.com will be donated to the Track & Field Athletes Association (TFAA), a foundation that Symmonds supports, during the month of August. The TFAA is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support professional track and field athletes nationwide.

Zappos has an ongoing relationship with Symmonds, a two-time Olympian, and also endorsed NFL player Ronnie Stanley earlier this year. The brand plans to continue to build its athlete influencer program in the coming months.

The company is promoting the partnership via site integrations, social channels, email marketing initiatives and by sharing news on the company’s blog, Beyond the Box, says Kristin Richmer, Zappos brand awareness team.

“We also launched a Facebook Canvas campaign,” Richmer tells Marketing Daily. “We bought ad space on Nick Symmonds' body in May 2016 (leading up to the Olympic trials). Symmonds is a talented Olympic runner and he is passionate about advocating for the rights of track athletes off the field of play.”

Partnering with Symmonds and Brooks Running to support the Track & Field Athletes Association seemed a natural fit, Richmer says.

“We’re approaching the world of athlete influencers with a very unique mindset,” she says. “We want to work with athletes who have overcome amazing odds, who are passionate about their sport, who give back to their communities, and who are interested in achieving a higher purpose outside of their athletic accolades.”
