  • March 23, 2005
In response to a $17.5 million lawsuit filed by Paris-based news wire service Agence France Presse (AFP) in a Washington, D.C. court, Google is pulling the wire's content from its news site. The lawsuit alleged that the Mountain View, Calif.-based search giant was infringing AFP's copyright by displaying the service's photos, headlines, and texts in the news search results. Google News, which is still in beta testing, allows publishers to opt-out of being indexed and displayed in searches. --S.G.
