According to the International Data Corporation’s (IDC) latest global IoT decision maker survey, almost a third of respondents have launched IoT solutions, with a further 43% considering deployment in the next 12 months. The analyst firm’s yearly study helps gain insights from enterprise IT and business decision makers about their understanding of the Internet of Things (IoT) as well as their early deployments or plans for deployment of these solutions. According to IDC, 31.4% of organisations polled have launched IoT solutions, with an additional 43% are considering deploying in the next twelve months. The survey also found 55% of the respondents believe IoT as strategic to their business as a means to compete more effectively. The survey also showed that organisations are moving away from the traditional proof of concept projects to scalable IoT deployments that are incorporating cloud, analytics, and security capabilities.
