Dish Network Q3: Higher Revs, Lower Pay TV Subscribers

Dish Network posted slightly higher revenues for the third quarter -- but continued to lose overall pay TV subscribers.

Revenue was at $3.75 billion compared to $3.73 billion in the third quarter of 2015. Subscriber revenue was also up slightly -- to $3.73 billion from $3.70 billion.

But the company ended the period down 266,000 in total subscribers to 13.643 million. Dish includes all digital TV OTT service, Sling TV subscribers in the company’s total pay TV numbers.

Most recent estimates are that Sling TV -- the year-and-a-half-old service --  has around 700,000 subscribers.

Dish was able to post gains in the average price homes pay for its service -- to $89.44 compared $86.33. Also, the company lost about 20,000 broadband subscribers, now totaling 593,000.

Net income totaled $307 million, versus $196 million from the year-ago quarter.

Midday Wednesday trading of Dish stock was up 1.2% to $57.39.
