Energy Giants Barred From Taking People Off A Mass Email Database

Energy giants are to be barred from telling their customers how to remove themselves from a controversial new database that will share their contacts with dozens of rival suppliers, it has emerged. The database is the Competition and Market Authority (CMA)'s flagship idea to prompt millions of disengaged households that have languished on expensive standard tariffs to shop around.
