Ransomware Email Tricks Consumers With Fake Credit Card Report
A new spam email campaign is in circulation warning recipients about a fake credit card report. The email tells the victim that their Master Card payments are pending approval and instructs the user to open an attached Word file to ensure that the payment goes through. Downloading and installing the file will infect the computer with ransomware, in which the user must pay a fee in order to free their computer.
