Time Inc. Taps Clay Chandler As Exec Editor, International

In this newly created role as executive editor, international, Clay Chandler will be instrumental in the company's plans for global expansion, chief content officer Alan Murray stated.

Chandler previously worked at Time Inc. as Asia editor of Fortunefrom 2001 to 2008, before becoming Asia editor of McKinsey Global Publishing. He has more than 25 years of experience in international media.

In his new post, Chandler will be responsible for managing editorial initiatives, such as developing new content channels like international newsletters, and contributing articles to Time Inc.’s brands.

He will also collaborate with the advertising sales team to develop and market edit ideas for advertising sponsorships.

On the business side, Chandler will develop Time Inc.’s global conferences and events strategy. He will be based in Hong Kong and report to Murray and president of Time Inc. International Steve Marcopoto.

Marcopoto stated that Chandler would serve “as an important bridge between our editorial and business sides” a for Time Inc.'s brands in markets and platforms outside the U.S. and U.K.

Marcopoto has been eager to grow Time Inc. International ever since his appointment this time last year.

Joe Ripp, Time Inc.'s former chairman and CEO, launched initiatives to expand the company's brands globally, with the Essence Festival in South Africa and the acquisition of UK Cycling Events (UKCE), for example. He has since been replaced by Rich Battista.
