Scam Email Cost Connecticut Town $2M

A business email scam was the cause of a Connecticut town losing $2 million to a China-based network last fall, according to the FBI. The agency found that the transfer of funds was legitimate, but that the sender was the victim of a CEO spam email. A Farmington town employee used the ACH network to make a payment on a major town project but was tricked into sending the money into a third party account.
