Blinkx To Promote Hitchhiker's Guide

  • April 20, 2005
Search-technology company Blinkx today is announcing enhancements to its "smart folders" tool plus a partnership with Disney to promote its new feature film, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Since its launch in the summer of 2004, Blinkx's free downloadable software has allowed users to create "smart folders," tied to a certain type of content. Its main search tool automatically reads the content on a user's screen and continuously generates search results from related content on computer files, emails and the Web. As Blinkx's technology discovers content that appears related, Blinkx places it in a user's folders. Now Blinkx content providers can create customized folders to share with Blinkx users, which is what Disney's Touchstone Pictures has done with its promotional Web site for "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," which is scheduled for release nationwide on April 29. Blinkx also released a sharable smart folder feature that allows Blinkx users to share their customized folders with their friends.
