It's no secret that awards in the ad industry are like self-esteem-building participation awards given to every kid for just for showing up. Although as much as the award situation in the ad industry is like non-stop orgasm, agencies actually have to do some kind of work to get an award.

In the latest award news, New York advertising agency DeVito/Verdi was awarded "Best In Show" in the Television Advertising-Series category for its campaign for Legal Sea Foods, and won a dozen additional awards at the recent 14th annual Service Industry Advertising Awards. There's an orgasm joke in there somewhere but I'll let you enjoy it on your own.

In total, DeVito/Verdi won six gold, two silver, two bronze and three merit awards at the Atlanta ceremony that recognizes creative achievement for clients and brands in the service industry. Servicing the service industry? OK, I'll stop.

The agency won gold medals in the Newspaper, Magazine and Television advertising categories, as well as for a Social Media campaign.

DeVito/Verdi also won two gold awards for the New York hospital Mount Sinai Medical Center (TV Advertising-Series and Magazine Advertising-Series), and one each for New England furniture retailer Bernie & Phyl's, (Magazine Advertising-Series) and the Midwest department store chain Gordmans (Social Media).

The agency also took home one bronze and one merit award for its print and TV work on behalf of University of Chicago Medicine.

Of the award haul, DeVito/Verdi President Ellis Verdi said, "it's always great to win 'Best of Show,' but we're especially pleased that our work in so many different categories was viewed so highly by the judges. We also take great pride in being recognized for creativity on behalf of such wide-ranging clients - from hospitals to restaurants to furniture stores. It's a testament to the strength and depth of our creative teams."
