No Joke! Comedy Central Suspends 'Chappelle's Show'

  • May 5, 2005
One night after MTV Networks touted Comedy Central's "Chappelle's Show" as one of its high points of the last two seasons--with particular emphasis on the bestselling DVDs of the show--the network abruptly announced Wednesday that the sketch comedy show is immediately suspending production.

No reason was given for the move. Comedy Central issued a brief statement saying all parties involved in the show's production are optimistic that it will resume "in the near future." The third season was originally scheduled to premiere on May 31st. Last summer, Chappelle agreed to a contract calling for at least two more seasons. -- D.K.
