Like A Good Neighbor: New Smart Harbor Provides Marketing Services To Insurance Industry

Independent marketing agency The Shipyard is introducing Smart Harbor, a new subsidiary designed to provide marketing services to local insurance agents.

The firm intends to help clients in the category sharpen their design, content and media programs. It will also help shape social, CRM and data analytics programs.

Smart Harbor will be led by Ben Clarke, president and Jason Walker, managing partner, reporting to Rick Milenthal, CEO The Shipyard (and former CEO of Engauge, now part of Publicis Groupe).

Clarke has been president and chief technology officer of The Shipyard since 2012. Walker joined the firm in 2013 and cofounded the firm’s insurance industry practice, now being expanded and spun-off as a new firm.

Smart Harbor also intends to recruit former insurance agents and executives, strategic marketers, software developers and data scientists.

“As more and more insurance transactions are done without human involvement, we wanted to double down on the role of the trusted advisor – that agent who helps consumers navigate the complex insurance landscape – and find the best solutions,” says Clarke.

“We’re able to give insurance agents a way to manage marketing, prospecting and retention initiatives through one consolidated dashboard that leads to predictable growth and improvements in retention.”
