Now, these winners have to wait to learn exactly what color Pencil - Wood, Graphite, Yellow or Black - they will receive during the Awards Ceremony on Thursday April 27 in Troxy, London. There are no quotas for awards at D&AD which means the number of awarded entries fluctuates year to year. Some years no Black Pencils are awarded: the record currently stands at seven.
Adam&eve and Clemenger BBDO Melbourne each ranked as the second most awarded agencies with 13 Pencils, followed by Droga5 at 12 Pencils, and BBDO New York and TBWA\Media Arts Lab,
each with 11 Pencils. This year's D&AD Next Photographer award went to French photographer Antoine Bruy.
Following the U.S., the UK comes in second with 164 Pencils, joined by Australia (54) and France and Germany (each 30).
Among the categories, Pencils were awarded for Art Direction (13), Book Design (13); Branded Film Content and Entertainment (25); Branding (45); Digital Design (26); Digital Marketing (30); Direct (32); Film Advertising (49); Film Advertising Crafts (106); Graphic Design (63); Integrated (24); Media (40); Packaging Design (13); Press Advertising (17); Product Design (14); Radio & Audio (12); Spatial Design (18); Writing for Advertising (16).
"We would encourage everyone to take in the sheer breadth of creative excellence that is on show this year," said Tim Lindsay, CEO of D&AD. "We can’t wait to share the winners with you at the Ceremony tomorrow.”
All 733 Pencils will appear in the 55th D&AD Annual published later this year.
