Report: Mobile Video To Reach $1.5 Billion In 2009

  • May 10, 2005
Mobile phone service providers are scrambling to diversify their revenue stream with features such as mobile video, ringtones, and games, according to a report released Monday by research firm eMarketer. The report referenced a February survey by M:Metrics, which found that consumers are increasingly using such services. For instance, 8.2 percent more respondents to the M:Metrics survey downloaded mobile games in February than in January, while 3.9 percent more sent a photo message to a phone or e-mail. eMarketer also reported--citing data from Frost & Sullivan--that mobile video will grow to a $1.5 billion market by 2009, from $28.8 million last year.
