Accenture's Agency Buying Spree Continues

Accenture continues its agency buying spree with the acquisition of creative agency The Monkeys and its design business, Maud. Terms weren’t disclosed.

According to the consultant, the move strengthens the customer experience capabilities of its digital agency unit Accenture Interactive.

The acquisition follows the firm’s purchase of a majority stark in German digital agency SinnerSchrader in the first quarter.

According to agency tracker COMvergence Accenture was one of the two most acquisitive IT/consulting firms of digital agencies last year along with IBM iX. Both firms made seven agency acquisitions in 2016.

The combined staff and revenues of the companies acquired by Accenture were 1,284 and $172 million respectively.

COMvergence cited Accenture’s deal to buy London creative agency Karmarama last year as “a strong move by a consulting firm to get into the advertising business.”

The Monkeys’ current management team led by CEO Mark Green will continue to manage the agency.
