  • May 12, 2005
Yahoo! Music drew 1,512,300 U.S. listeners during an average work-week in March, according to a report released Wednesday by comScore Media Metrix and Arbitron. By contrast, the AOL Radio Network drew 1,113,700 listeners; Microsoft's MSN Radio and WindowsMedia.com together drew 569,800 listeners per week, while Web radio community Live365 attracted 350,900 listeners per average work-week in March. Resulting from typical work schedules in the U.S. and people's substantial access to the Internet at work, listening to online radio overall peaked midday, with 1,036,800 people age 12 and older listening during an average quarter-hour, Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. (Average quarter-hour is the estimated number of people who listen during an average 15-minute period of time during a given daypart, according to comScore Arbitron.) The comScore Arbitron online radio ratings service is based on a subset of about 200,000 U.S. participants within the comScore consumer pane. -- Gavin O'Malley
