Cheil's Barbarian Hires Razorfish Vet For CTO Role

Digital agency Barbarian, part of Cheil Worldwide has appointed Chuck Fletcher chief technology officer. The 25-plus-year industry veteran was most recently technology director, learning experiences at Publicis Groupe’s Razorfish.

Fletcher succeeds Robert Christ, who left last year. Prior to Razorfish, Fletcher served as director of back-end and mobile development at Normal Ears, a 3D–printed earbud headphone company. Earlier, he served as managing director, innovation and chief technology officer for Havas Worldwide, where he created and ran MadSci Labs, the agency’s R&D/emerging technologies lab.

It’s the second time in two months that Barbarian has tapped a senior Publicis Groupe alum for a role at the agency. In April, the agency recruited Cathy Butler to be its new CEO.

Butler commented on Fletcher’s hiring:  “Chuck lives and breathes the best of Barbarian,” she stated. “He’s a fearless Maker who is passionate about creating unexpected experiences. He is a talented technologist who will push our creative ideas even further. “
