Barroeta Named SVP Marketing, Creative At Telemundo

NBCUniversal marketing veteran Karen Barroeta has been promoted to SVP of marketing and creative for Telemundo Networks. She will report to Luis Silberwasser, president of Telemundo and Universo Channel, and will remain based in Miami.

Her new responsibilities encompass strategic development and execution of all consumer-marketing initiatives across the network’s platforms. This includes oversight of the media-buying and experiential marketing teams.

Barroeta will work with the Telemundo Station Group as well as the NBCUniversal distribution and affiliate teams.

Previously, Barroeta was SVP of marketing and creative for NBCUniversal International Networks Spanish Latin America, a five-channel joint venture with Ole Communications. During this time, Barroeta had oversight of marketing, communications and creative for Universal Channel, Studio Universal, Syfy, E! Entertainment and Telemundo Internacional. She also held responsibility for Telemundo Internacional’s programming strategy -- the Telemundo-branded cable channel in Mexico and Latin America.

Prior to this, she served as general manager of Telemundo Internacional.

In 2010, Barroeta worked at Telemundo as SVP of marketing creative for Telemundo Network, responsible for developing the positioning for all program-specific and Telemundo-brand advertising and promotion. She also headed up the creative services teams.
