Stainmaster Humorously Highlights Trials Of Allergy Sufferers

Stainmaster is launching a digital campaign that looks at the funny and odd things people will do to fight dust and allergens.

From chugging honey to vacuuming the vacuum, the 30-second video shows allergy sufferers will go to great lengths to fight the allergens they hate. While the lengths they go to may seem bizarre, with roughly 50 million people in the United States suffering from airborne-related allergies, it's no laughing matter.

At the end of the spot, a symptom-free family, including a baby, enjoy the Stainmaster LiveWell carpet and cushion system. The technology helps reduce the bonding of allergen particles to the carpet fibers. So when homeowners vacuum, allergen particles are easily picked up. In fact, it’s up to 90% more effective at releasing allergen particles, the company says.

The video and supporting assets are being presented across numerous digital platforms.

The spot strikes the perfect balance between humor and realism, said Jackson Pettit, brand manager, Stainmaster. “The vignettes in the spot, however exaggerated, are ultimately tied to real things people do,” Pettit says in a release.

Those with allergies know that there’s no length they won’t go to try and fight them, said Betsy Morrison, Scout creative director.

“We’ve portrayed this allergen fighting battle as a vibrant and playful dance, creating engagement through comedic scenarios that are real and relatable to both allergy sufferers and sympathizers,” she says. “The tension is further compounded in the opening vignettes through music, production design, and cinematography."
