Sendwithus Wins $5 Million In Series A Funding

Sendwithus, a firm that assists clients with their email creation process, has raised $5 million in a Series A funding round. The investment was led by BlueRun Ventures, with additional investment by Baseline Ventures.

Cheryl Cheng, a general partner at BlueRun Ventures, will join the Sendwithus board.

The company plans to utilize the funding to expand its sales, marketing and engineering teams. It now has 30 employees.

Founded in 2013, Sendwithus offers a cloud-based enterprise solution that it says helps clients deliver transactional emails at scale. It is used by firms including Microsoft, Autodesk, Zillow, and Blue Apron.

"Companies increasingly need to differentiate on customer experience, and there is a huge volume of email for which this is overlooked,” says Matt Harris, co-founder and CEO of Sendwithus.

Harris adds: “Enterprises can no longer afford for their most valuable, highest engaged emails to be off brand and leave a poor taste with the consumer."

Cheng states that “CMOs are under siege in the battle to win the hearts and minds of their customers. They need flexible ways to test messages in a timely fashion and measure ROI.”

Sendwithus claims to streamline email creation by providing an API, a visual editor, and device testing. It also supplies a centralized hub for content approval, it says.

The firm, which reports it has sent over 10 billion emails to date, had one prior funding round in 2014. Its previous investors include Baseline Ventures, Initialized Capital, Acequía capital, SV Angel, Maiden Lane, Y Combinator, Scott Banister and others.
