For the first time ever, the number of VR headsets shipped globally surpassed 1 million units during the third quarter of the year, according to Canalys. “There are a number of manufacturers

Business Insider notes, citing Canalys’s findings. “Its PlayStation VR headset alone got into the
hands of 490,000 new customers, which means 49% of Q3's entire pie.”

That's not really a big number. 1million in a quarter. Annualised that is 4 million which is around one twentieth of one percent of the global population.
I wonder how many of our readers know the approximate size of the world's population, John.
Good point Ed.
I based it on 7 billion. But on further checking the October 2017 estimate it is more like 7.6 billion so I was on the high side. Either way 4m p.a. is teensy.
By the way, John, Dave Morgan has published an interesting report, based largely on Nielsen data, about the number of channels that are viewed now and five years ago and related metrics which I have commeneted on. I'd be interested in your evaluation as well as the opinions of Jack, Nick, and others if they would care to oblige. It's an important subject and needs to be looked into. Dave provides a link to the report.
Interesting Ed.
Can you please post the link and I will have a look at it next week when I get back a long weekend away (milking cows is involved I believe!)
Here's the link, John:
